Operating Room

Today's picture shows an operating room circa 1900. I ams surprised that even at this date there appears to be little understanding of maintaining a sterile field in surgery. There are no face masks, and little more than street clothes being worn.

  1. Is that one doctor really so tall, or is he standing on a stool. He is, literally, head and shoulders above everyone else in the room.
The sanitary conditions would give most of us today the chills, but I'm sure Elizabeth would tell you there are still places where this would look pretty darned good.

  2. Compared to the dentist office in yesterday's picture, this operating room does look pretty darn good!
