Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty was actually a gift from France. In 1883 while the statue was being built in France, the head was put on display in a public park in Paris. This unusual picture shows what it looked like while on display in Paris.

  1. There is a smaller Statue of Liberty in Paris, France. It faces west toward our Statue of Liberty which is facing east.

  2. We had long-lost relatives from Europe visit us the past summer for our dad's 100th birthday. Since we live in New England, our newly found cousins obviously wanted to visit New York City. We made sure to include a visit to the Statue of Liberty; and they found it to be amazing. No matter how many times we go there, it never gets old. The views from the top are spectacular as is seeing that giant face up close.
