Hauling Logs

We wrap up Lumberjack Week today with this picture. It shows draft horses pulling a sled of logs from the woods. The picture was taken in 1937 in Minnesota.

  1. Much "tie hack" logging done here in the Upper Green River Valley of Wyoming. Tie hackers harvested the trees in the winter and skidded them down to the Green River to be floated to Green River, Wyoming to be made into railroad ties. Many of the cabins and camps can still be found in the forests.
