Today's picture is from around 1900 and it shows a fire engine being drawn down the street by three white horses. The horses appear to be in full gallop. Also, I find interesting that the tires on the fire engine appear to maybe have rubber rings on them. I was not aware that rubber had been used on tires before its use on automobile tires.


  1. It must have been one heck of a thrill to be standing there as these three galloped past!

  2. This is another fire engine with a water tank aboard, like yesterday's where there was also a fire hydrant visible in the foreground of the picture. And the horses are wonderful. Not only do they look powerful and in full gallop. They look like they're well trained to work together. These aren't wearing blinders, I notice.
