I could be romanticizing the past, but I like to think that this horse race was a race among ordinary people who had reason to think they had fast horses, not horses on whose breeding vast sums of money had been spent and riders who had been exploited by greedy owners.
Maybe I'm romanticizing the past, but i like to think that this race is among ordinary people who have reason to believe their horses are fast, rather than among horses on whose breeding vast sums have been spent and riders who have been starved and exploited by greedy owners.
