Fire Truck

Today's picture shows a fire truck at the US capitol. It was responding to a fire there some time in February of 1926.


  1. What is particularly striking is how much safety equipment has changed over the years, from virtually none at all, to I-wonder-how-they-can-move. A hat and boots certainly wasn't much help.

  2. These old fire engines are so appealing. There was one parked in front of a local garage, recently: not so old as this one, but old. It had a "For Sale" sign on it, and believe me, I was tempted. Of course I didn't have the money, the need, or even a place to park the thing, but still...
