Old Woman

Today's picture shows an 80 year old woman living in a tent in a migrant worker camp in California. The woman and her family had to move from Oklahoma in hope of finding work. How sad that after a lifetime of hard work, ending up living in a tent and looking for day labor.

  1. But look at the dignity in her face! I suspect, from having read "The Grapes of Wrath" lo those many years ago, that hard as life was in the migrant camps of California, it was better than eating the dust of Oklahoma. I love this old woman's hands. On this Labor Day, think of all the dignified, hard labor those hands have done.

  2. My mom was born in a tent in 1930. It was a tent city in Texas near the oil field where my grandfather was able to find work.
