Migrant Tent Camp

We wrap up the Great Depression Week with this picture of a man living out of a tent. It looks like he is in the midst of a bunch of mesquite trees, and it looks like he is not getting enough to eat. The picture was taken in 1939 near Harlingen, Texas.

  1. Now that is living the basic life. Don't know how he did it.

  4. We as Americans get so ungrateful and spoiled we need times like these to humble ourselves and be thankful for the small things

  6. This looks remarkably like a photo I took of a man living in a tent on a Galveston beach after Hurricane Ike. Exchange the hat for a baseball cap, and a plastic bucket for the metal one, and it's amazing how similar the two photos are. People cope as they can.
