Apache Chief

Today's picture is from 1904 and shows an Apache Chief. Not just any Apache Chief, but the most famous of all . . . Geronimo. Geronimo was a fierce warrior, and one of the last holdouts in the Indian Wars.

  1. What an odd picture. I would love to know which items of clothing are his and which are a prop. The little toy bow and arrow looks really out of place.

  2. A demeaning picture at best. That bow would probably propel the arrow 20' if that far. I liked his other pictures that shows him in his Indian clothing.

  3. How many of the other Apache pictures were taken by Edward Curtis? He was the famous photographer of Native Americans, who took pictures of them in the late 19th c. and early 20th c. in their Native dress and settings. Today's, taken in Western clothing, doesn't look like one of Curtis's, but some of your others do.
