Train Station

Today's picture is from the late 1800's, and it shows the train station in Ellicott, Maryland. This is such a beautiful scene, you can imagine being on the platform watching the train roll in. Yes, I do dream about the simpler days.

  1. Ellicott City still looks pretty much the same. My grandfather, who was born in 1898, got a speeding ticket there for riding his bike - at 5 MPH! I guess that would have been about 1908 or so.

  2. Agree- these days are so complicated!
    Its messy now !
Great scene- wish I could be there like they did on the TV "See it Now".

  3. Good (older) western movies evoke this same feeling for me. A man's word was his bond and honesty and integrity were expected and honored across the West. Generally the characters showed more compassion and reverence than you see today.

However, there seems to be a growing cadre of people today that have may of these traits like you, your wife and Elizabeth. Most are in the rural areas but more and more I see them in the medium to large urban areas. All may not be lost.

  4. That building in the rear of the picture partially obscured by the trees looks interesting.
Kind of like a castle design.
