Locomotive Shop



This is a great picture of classic locomotives. The picture was taken in the Locomotive Shop of the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. The picture was taken in the Chicago shop. The picture was taken in 1942. These old locomotives were truly spectacular.

  3. I'll bet these engines cost a fortune to keep running on a daily basis. They were steel bodies being sprayed with warm moisture all the time, The rust must have been an unending chore to remove. But watching an engine hooked up to 80 - 100 tons of payload simply begin moving imperceptibly at first and then it begins to accelerate is truly inspiring.
