Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
I have the ration books from my mom's family, each parent and each child had their own book of stamps, All were signed and on the front of each booklet was a printed warning of the consequences of misusing the ration stamps or transferring them to someone else. On the back it says to save all tin cans and "unused fats" to be recycled and used for the war. All the booklets are in a leather wallet made just for that purpose. On the other side of my family, my grandfather who was a country doctor had the privilege of unlimited gasoline ration stamps because his profession required him to make house calls all through the country and in town. It must have been quite an experience to live through those times.
