Dust Storm

Dust Bowl week continues with this picture of a dust storm. The picture shows a dust storm as it engulfs Stratford, Texas. The picture was taken in 1935. What a distressing site this must have been for those who were there.

  1. Distressing indeed! I can't even imagine cleaning up your house after such an event.

  2. This one has the sense of an avalanche of snow just before it hits. You know it's coming, and there's not a thing you can do to avert the catastrophe. Dust may not kill you by knocking you over, but it certainly could kill you by suffocation, just like an avalanche did. To say nothing of all the grit in your teeth and between your toes once it was gone. And in between the sheets on your bed and in the clothes you put on and your shoes, to say nothing of the pots and pans. Like being at the beach to the max. Most unpleasant!
