Spring Planting

This has been a really cold winter here in West Texas, but finally today I was hearing some sounds of spring outside. I am hopeful that this cold spell we are coming out of is the last one for the season.

So, in celebration of the soon arrival of spring, this will be Spring Planting Week here at OPOD. We will be looking at farmers and gardeners working to get their crops planted. For you gardeners out there, the time has come to begin getting ready for planting.

The picture above was taken in 1943, and it shows a farmer getting his field plowed.

  1. Plowed? That looks more like a potato planter planting seed, I rode the planter seat many times in the '60s planting potatoes in Aroostook county Maine.

  2. It will be a few more months before this MI gardener can think about planting. We still have about a foot of snow on the ground. Hurry spring!
