That would be the wool they were spinning in Tuesday's photo. I feel fairly sure the little lady in the middle is the same as the one on the right in Tuesday's picture. It bothers me that she has no shoes.

The younger woman on the right is carrying a gun over her shoulder. Is she off to shoot some game for dinner for her folks, I wonder? What's the pouch hanging at her waist? It looks like it has feathers dangling from it. Maybe it has her ammunition. I like the handkerchief stuck in her waistband, and the "feminine" ruffles on her sunbonnet.
Something tells me that would-be burglers just bypassed this house. My great grandmother from this era preferred going barefoot.
Yep. Wool. My mother used to keep her knitting and needlepoint yarn twisted up in just that way.
I was going to say spun wool as well.
