Winter Blast

Welcome to Winter Blast Week here at OPOD. I don't know how many of you are getting hit by this cold blast coming down from Alaska, but I will tell you things are very cold here in West Texas. So, this week we will look at people working in the cold. This picture shows a cowboy working in a snowstorm. The picture was taken in Wyoming in 1923.

  1. I'm pretty sure this is a Charles Belden photo. He was on the Pitchfork Ranch near Meeteetse, WY and took amazing cowboy & ranching photos during the 20s, 30s & 40s. Check him out.

  2. How refreshing to hear Alaska blamed for your cold snap, instead of Canada. We're tired of getting all the blame.

  4. Judi - you are correct. This is a Charles Belden photo taken on the Pitchfork. And we have consisently had lows of around 25 below over the past four mornings. Central Wyoming.
