Outdoor School

We wrap up Back to School Week with this picture of students studying outdoors. The picture was taken in 1939 in Oregon, and it looks like the entire school decided to take advantage of the sunshine and learn outside for the day.

  1. It was such a treat when the teacher would move the class outside. Those were the best days!

  2. None of my teachers moved a class outside. Darn. More's the pity.

  3. What a nice teacher to allow the kids some sunshine in their studies! Great week, PJM.

  4. Going back to yesterday.....Bondurant, Wyoming still has a one-room school. Yes, it's modernized, but the same concept.

  5. We got to go outside for reading circle, sometimes. We had a pile of quilts we'd take out, so we didn't have to move chairs. We'd sit under the trees and read our little hearts out.
