Fishing

There is perhaps no better way to relax in summertime than taking a little time out for fishing. These folks are fishing in Maine, which is a beautiful state. The picture was taken in the early 1900's. I wonder if any of our OPOD visitors have fond memories of fishing to share?

  2. Very nice picture. When we were kids we would take our fishing poles and a small box of jigs and ride our bikes over to a local lake. In the early summer the crappies and blue gills were very easy to catch. We would keep track and see who would catch the most fish in a couple hours. We rarely kept any fish. Great times! I still enjoy fishing today.

  3. There was a time when I was ten or so that we vacationed at a little motel on one of the 'finger' inlets of Clearwater Beach FL. While night fishing, I realized it made the water glow whenever I pulled my line up sharply. Turns out, there was some sort of luminous algae or some such in the water that night which would glow (like lightning bugs glow) when you disturbed them. Tossing in a shell or rock would do it. Pouring the seawater between to drinking cups would do it. Very cool. The next night, it was gone.
