Afternoon Boating

Today we have a nice picture of people enjoying a leisurely afternoon of boating. The picture was taken in 1900 near Berkshire England. I looks like it is set up to make it very easy for people to get on and off the boat.

  1. I'm so accustomed to the wide open spaces. It is hard to imagine enjoying myself while waiting in line to "recreate." But thanks for furthering my education.

  2. Looks like a pretty busy day at the dock.

  3. If I'm not mistaken, the boats are crowded together to go through a lock. There are many such small locks on English canals. Beautiful photo.

  5. Sherilyn is right. Read "Three Men in a Boat (to say nothing of the dog)" by Jerome K. Jerome. You'll enjoy a hilarious picture of what boating up and down the Thames river was like in the late 1800s.
