Today's picture shows an early version of a Seaplane. The picture was taken June 22, 1914. It was the launch of the first Curtiss Model H Flying Boat. The picture was taken near Hammondsport, New York.

  1. There appears to be cranks on the front-side of the engines, to jump start them. I aways thought these old engines where started by pulling on the propellers, but maybe some were different? Great picture!

  2. Counter rotating engines. Pretty high-tech for 1914.
