Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
I never attended summer camp but have done my share of camping and backpacking. Sitting around a campfire and sharing with family and friends is one of the highlights of camping. Something very comforting and primal about it. Great week!-Anne K.
That was always fun. Still camping today with the wife and even the kids will visit too. My dog even loves sitting in front of the fire and she has her own chair. Now we've even gone further and added a large firepit into my back yard. People love to come for that.
Once you start to camp you can't stop. 52 years old and it's still alot of fun, I love it. I think it is so much better than a hotel. Much cheaper too. I even talked my wife into camping for our honeymoon. She wasn't too thrilled about that so we compromised and spent 5 days camping and then 5 days at a fancy schmancy hotel. I had a "Just married sign and a do not disturb sign" hanging outside the tent.
You can't beat the camaraderie sitting around a camp fire brings. Exchanging news, views, ideas, stories, jokes and singing songs too !All the best Jan
I agree with everything said...campfires are the best. Loved 'em as a kid and a Boy Scout, love 'em as an old guy...I'm always the last one up, watching the fire die and the first one up to stoke it up and get the coffee going...
