Mississippi Sharecroppers

Today's picture shows a Sharecropper Couple from Mississippi. The picture was taken in 1937. I think we are going to see this week that life as a sharecropper was far from easy.


  1. Seems everything was just a little slanted back then.

  2. Slanted is right. The sharecroppers did all the farm work, took the entire harvest in and were measured out a small portion of the produce, never enough to better themselves. It was a different kind of slavery. There were many white sharecroppers as well.
