Daytona Beach Scene

I love this beach scene. It was taken at Daytona Beach in 1904. It just seems like things were so serene back in those days. Everyone looks polite, and no one looks in a hurry.

  1. I agree, lovely! I like seeing the carriages and bikes on the beach.
I think in our "microwave society" we've lost something with all our instant messaging and everything happening at such high speeds. Yes, it has its advantages but something has been lost, perhaps our ability to fully relax?

  2. Lovely photos this week. I do wonder about how the ladies did all their laundry after a day at the beach.

  3. Going to a beach back when it didn't resemble a Roman orgy must have been nice.

  4. What about the horse poop....did they clean it up or let the tide take it out? Seems like there would sure be alot with all those horses around.

    1. I wondered about that too. Surely they had a guy with a big barrel on wheels and a shovel come by!

  5. Daytona Beach definitely looks different this's 2014 Bike Week...thousands and thousands AND thousands of motorcycles...on the beach and everywhere else...not the place to go to relax, at least not this week...

  6. A lot less stress back then...
