Sir Edmund Hillary

What man could better exemplify a Life of Adventure that Sir Edmund Hillary . . . the first man to climb Mount Everest. I should qualify that he did have a Sherpa with him, Tenzing Norgay. Hillary was a spectacular climber, and spent his life in pursuit of adventure, and he is also remembered for his philanthropic acts.

  1. Sir Edmund has the rugged good looks that you would expect see at any dangerous adventure like the climb of Everest or climbing a sheer face in Yellowstone. He looks modest and wholesome like we would all like to look to others. Unfortunately, he is one of a very few men I know of that can fill that billing. Wish we had a few more for the future.

The Eldorado Cowboys are beginning the approach to Hillary's level so we will look for many great things from them.

  2. Yes Hillary and Tenzing 29 May 1953 .....

    All the best Jan

  3. "News of the expedition's success reached London on the morning of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. Times reporter James Morris sent a coded message by runner to Namche Bazaar, where a wireless transmitter was used to relay the message to London. The conquest of Everest was probably the last major news item to be delivered to the world by runner." - Wikipedia.
