Winter Carnival

We wrap up Carnival Week with this picture of the Winter Carnival near Upper Saranac Lake in New York. The picture was taken in 1909. Lots of interesting details looking at the clothing.

  1. Interesting photo and definitely a study in turn of the century clothing. The poor little girl in white sure isn't exuding much joy at being there. Or maybe her feet are cold in those too-big boots? I love the doll sleighs and their decorations.
Thanks for another fun week, PJM.

  2. None of them look very joyful! I wonder if it was a time exposure - surely not with all that reflective snow!

  3. Love the hats. That stern looking lady to the left looks even more cranky with that tall hat. You don't want to be giving her a hard time.

  4. The carnival is still an annual affair in Saranac Lake NY and is lots of fun!

  5. Beautiful, except the sour look on that kid's face!
