Sleigh Ride

Winter and cold weather are here for most of us, so I thought it would be good to have a week of cold winter scenery. We start the week with this scene from Washington DC of a horse-drawn sleigh. The picture was taken in 1935. I am surprised there were still people with sleighs in town at this late date.

  1. I have ridden in an open sleigh several times...seems like it was always the coldest night of the year! My personal opinion is that the romantization (is that a word?) of open sleigh riding is misplaced! My wife might disagree, maybe! But in spite of her thoughts, I do get to have my own opinion!

  2. Fun photo. I have never been on a sleigh ride, but I think it would be fun if one was bundled up sufficiently.

  3. If you've never ridden in a sleigh, you can duplicate the experience at home. Sit in a rocker on the back porch, preferably in a stiff breeze. Put your feet in a bucket of ice water and have somebody shake a set of sleigh bells in you left ear.

    There you have it. Enjoy!
