Ferris Wheel

OK, who does not love a Ferris Wheel? It is a fun ride that is exciting but not too scary. The lines are usually short, you get a reasonably long ride, and it does not make you sick.

This picture is from a carnival in Brownsville, Texas and it was taken in 1942.

  1. My girls and I always enjoyed going to the Firemen's Carnivals. Usually, we would go early and, because it wasn't busy, the attendant would give us longer rides.

  2. I hate Ferris wheels. I am afraid of heights. When I was around seven years old, my grandmother and I were trapped on the top of a Ferris wheel when it malfunctioned. It took about an hour to fix it but it seemed like an eternity.

  3. Oh, and here's another story. I was in high school, so it would have been around 1962-1963. My cousin and I got stuck on top of the DOUBLE ferris wheel at the Iowa State Fair. It only took about twenty minutes to get us down, but oh, my. I rode ferris wheels again but not the double ones.

  5. Funny thing about Ferris Wheels...put me on a roller coaster, straight up, straight down, upside down, love it...airplane...I'll do aerobatics all day long...on a FW, it's all I can do to keep my lunch down. Go figure.
