Welcome to Fire Fighter week here at OPOD. We will be spending the week looking at the brave men who run into burning buildings. We start with this picture from 1911. They are demonstrating a new "smoke mask". It looks like the main fire hose has a separate hose that pumps air for the men to breathe.

  1. I hope that the masks are connected to the correct hose...

  2. My Son-in-law is a Firefighter in Georgetown, Texas and his breathing system comes from the smoke mask these fellows are wearing, but his has matured over the last century to be a tote able self contained system.

Have you thanked a firefighter for being ready 24 hours a day to protect you and your home or business from fire at the risk of his life?
