Today's picture shows the yard where men and animals got an hour lunch break from work in the field. They were cultivators, responsible for breaking up the field in preparation for planting. Lunch break is over, and they are on their way back to the fields. The picture was taken in 1940 on the King and Anderson Plantation in Mississippi.

  1. I continue to visit your wonderful photo blog nearly every single day. I take great pleasure from it and cannot thank you enough for the hard work you do in posting these wonderful and interesting photographs.

  2. Such a lot of hard work!

  3. Interesting photo. It appears no one felt the need for a saddle or maybe they couldn't afford one?
