Oscar Wilde
Oscar Wilde was one of the literary geniuses of the 1800's. He is remembered for his plays, epigrams, and novel. Wilde died penniless in a hotel room in Paris, living under an assumed name.
As often as I have heard Oscar Wilde's name mentioned through the years, I have to confess I know virtually nothing about him. The picture does nothing to make me want to know anything about him...
there is a statue in Dublin to Oscar...he is reclining in much the same position as this picture...makes one wonder if maybe the sculptor used this photo for his masterpiece??
