This kind of carriage is a "Quitrin"
Beautiful and interesting pics about Cuba!
This is a two horse hitch to a one horse carriage. Not the shafts go to the horse behind. The second saddle horse provides a bit of power on the hills and also controls the horse in the shafts. This was a horse training type set-up that I recall from my youth an old great uncle used.
Why are the wheels so large? They obviously keep the carriage well above the ground - out of the dust? Any suggestions?
