Indian Maiden

We wrap up Indian Portrait Week with this photochrom print from 1904. It shows an Indian girl beside a lake and canoe. Her Tipi can be seen in the background. We are not given any information on the location of the photograph, but are told the girl's name is Minnehaha.

  1. Great photos all week. Enjoyed every one of them. Love the colors.

  2. Given her name, I'd guess the picture is from Minnesota (or maybe the general midwest region), where we have Minnehaha Falls.

  3. Wow, the details on that dress must have taken months to create.

  5. Good thing I have a regular job, because judging from this photo, I'd make a lousy Indian! I doubt if I could make either the dress or the shoes or the canoe.
Thanks for posting these for us, Mr. PJM, sir.
