Crow Indian

Today we have a photochrome print from 1902. It shows an Indian Man in front of his Tipi on the Great Plains. His horses look great, and it also looks like he has a couple of dogs. The man is from the Crow tribe.

  1. Good looking horse; nice slick coat. Looks like there is a powdering of snow on the hills behind him so that explains why he is wrapped in that cloak.

  3. I have really enjoyed your photos this week. also appreciate you referring to these people as Indians, which is what most of them call themselves, if they don't tell you they are Sioux, Cree, Hopi, or whatever.

My husband is half Cherokee and his grandfather really pitched a fit over the term "Native American". Anyone who is bon in this country is a "native" American. "Just another attempt by the Great White Father to get the Red Man to disappear" was his attitude. Actually, the Canadian term "First Nations" is more appropriate. Thanks!
