Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Very nice, at it is the one from yesterday. But I can't believe this outfit is real - coveralls would make much more sense in these types of environments.
ReplyDeleteAnd come to think of it, the models look a bit too spit clean for the toil. Wonder if they aren't professional models?
But regardless, really nice set of color photos!
You forget, Claudio, These are California girls of the 40s. That is probably the way they look for all occasions
ReplyDeleteBoth pics look staged to me. Yes, back then they would wear jewelry while working, but working in the dark? Probably not.
ReplyDeleteIf you look at the three color photos this week they appear to be done by a pro. My guess would be using Kodachrome slide film in 4 x 5 film. The lighting in today's shot was dramatic. Using a black back drop and the lighting was from the left and from the right to show her and his face and the backs of each. Very well done.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, Were the 3 color shots done in Kodachrome? Sure look like it to me.

Looks staged to me as well, but I like it anyway.
ReplyDeletehow come the link is missing from the home page? I had to do a google search to find this part of the blog. Is anyone else having that problem?
ReplyDeleteDramatic photo, I agree. Definitely posed with the lighting, but an interesting photo. It has almost a (dare I say?) sensual quality to it.

This is not a B-25! It is a C-47/DC-3. One can tell from the shape of the canopy & windows surrounds the pilots which they are working on. Other than that a great photo.
