Vale Oregon

Today we have a picture from Vale, Oregon. The family is picnicking right out of their car. The picture was taken at a 4th of July picnic in 1941. The more I look at these old pictures, the more I think we should rekindle the old Picnic Tradition!

  1. Nice photo! I think one problem with the idea of picnics nowadays is that folks are too spoiled by their air conditioning. (myself included)

  2. The church we attended in Pennsylvania had its picnic the first Sunday after Labor Day. We were in the mountains,so nobody missed the AC, we would often build a fire. It wasn't cold, but a little nippy at first, then pleasantly warm as the day passed.

  3. Plus, picnics are a lot of work. Too much work for your average American, these days. It's easier to get fast food.
