Boating the Nile

This picture shows a group boating the Nile. The picture was taken in 1936 near the Murchinson Falls in Uganda. This scene really reminds me of the old movie, the "African Queen". I wonder where that movie was supposed to be set? In any event, it was a great movie.

  1. Much of the film was shot on location in Uganda and the Congo in Africa.
About half of the film was shot in England. For instance, the scenes in which Bogart and Hepburn are seen in the water were all shot in studio tanks at Isleworth Studios, Middlesex. These scenes were considered too dangerous to shoot in Africa. All of the foreground plates for the process shots were also done in studio

  2. It is like the old movie.

  3. Cool photo. Coincidentally, I was just telling a relative yesterday I'd like to watch "African Queen" again.
    Be safe in your travels.
