Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

There are Boom Towns out side of military bases.
ReplyDeleteDaddy was in the Army, and as I recall, the Boom Towns were very seedy.
I can recall that at one post, the Post Commander made the Boom Town off limits to all military personnel. I suspect that order was not followed as well as the Commander would have liked.
HMMM, a couple of buildings called the HITCHIN POST, yet not a hitchin post in sight.
ReplyDeleteBeen to Silverton, took the train, nice trip. Very scenic, touristy, and has a grave with the marker - "I told you I was sick!"
