Welcome to Eskimo Week here at OPOD. We will be exploring various photographs of these Native Alaskans. We kick things off with this picture from 1913. The picture shows an Eskimo Man reading a copy of the Saturday Evening Post. This is really an unusual picture.
I use to love to read the Saturday Evening Post also when I was young.

ReplyDeleteI couldn't find this image when I Googled Matthew Henson, but it did show up as a print on eBay and Amazon.com under "Eskimo Reading the Saturday Morning Post". You'd think this iconic image would pop up when you do a 'Matthew Henson' search.
