Civil War Games
Welcome to Game Week here at OPOD. We will be looking at the recreational games people have played over time. Today, we have a picture of men relaxing from duties in the Civil War to play a game of dominoes. Dominoes is a game I really enjoy, and am pretty good at. The thing is though, I don't know anyone else around here that plays dominoes.

I like dominoes but we don't play it very often.
ReplyDeleteWe play board games from time to time, sometimes more often than others. My husband likes chess and is fairly good at it but I am a terrible chess player.
I'm afraid most people play electronic games.
No Words With Friends?
ReplyDeleteWell, you could always take your dominoes and hang around bars, hoping to find another aficionado.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy dominoes, and play it with my grandkids. It's one game where age and skill are not a factor.
ReplyDelete"Oh oh Domino (it's all right)
ReplyDeleteRoll me over, Romeo, there you go
Lord, have mercy
I said oh-oh, Domino
Roll me over, Romeo, there you go
Say it again
I said oh-ooh-oh Domino
I said oh-ooh-ooh-oh Domino
(Dig It)"

We play dominos a lot at my son-in-laws house. As I was growing up, we played all kind of games. Dominos, Checkers, card games, etc. Of course there wasn't any TV.
ReplyDeleteSorry is the board game of choice at this household. Sorry! I suggested Monapoly today for the four of them -- but the grandchildren went right for the 30 yr old Sorry board. Later, I handed 11-yr old grandson the lovely 1930s Domino Set and he built towers out of them. rather them play the game and match the numbers, he built towers.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone out there play "42 with dominos. We played at each others houses on Friday or Saturday nite. That was when people actually visited each other. Kids played and there was always a "42 game going on. lam
ReplyDeleteWe play Chicken Foot with a double set of dominoes every holiday when the family gets together.
ReplyDeleteI like mexican train dominoes. But as far as the picture, I wonder who the civilian is? Sutler maybe? Photographer's assistant? We'll never know, but it's fun to guess!
