Twin Girls

This picture is from 1914 and shows twin girls getting ready to go in the car. My guess is that they are on their way to church. Have you noticed how the parents of twins can never resist dressing them the same? I am sure I would be the same way, though. The car looks like it is a Buick Roadster.

  1. my mother always dressed my twin sisters the same until they reached an age where they were able to complain about it , but even in their 40's they still dress similar. great picture, and how is your daughter hope she has recovered.

  2. My Dad was a twin. There are a few pics of them when they were around 3 years old. You couldn't tell them a part. My Dads' twin died at age 4. They had single names (Ray & Raymond). It was told that one day they were playing and one told the other, "You be Bates and I'll be Bounce". My Dad went sign his name "Ray B." the rest of his life.

  3. Beautiful little girls, great old car.

Perhaps they are going to church, maybe it is Easter Sunday. Perhaps they are just going to town or to visit Great Aunt Sarah and everything must be just so, even little girls.

I had so many boys, that when I finally had some girls, I dressed them up all the time. Now I have a granddaughter to play dress up with.

What is it she is carrying? It looks like it may be more than one thing, but I can't tell.

  4. Cute kids...great car!

Maybe a clue that great old car week is coming up?

We have 5" of rain and falling in East Texas. Got a lake out front, and a Flowage (combination lake/river) to the east. Did you get any of the rain in the west?

Good luck with Elizabeth and the return flight.

  5. Looks like this pic might be from England as it apears the stearing wheel is on the right hand side. I think your right about the car being a Buick, I'd say maybe a 1906,07 or 08 model? It needs one of those fancy thermostats that sit on top of the radiator. The kids are cute but I'm more interested in the car. Spontaneous photo, you would think they would have everyone pose in front of the car.

  6. I just had a thought. Maybe the Dad was trying to take a picture of the car and the kids got in the way.

  7. I made a mistake and don't mean to take over the comments section or take away from twins week but it looks like most of these cars back then had the wheel on the right side? Was that an option, I wonder, left or right? If not when did they standardize and put the stearing wheel on the left side? PJM, how are your model T's? Have you taken them out for a ride lately?

  8. I like how the antiquities look so brand new in your old pictures! It is a decent feature of the blog site! Thank you.

  9. Ain't it wonderful that spring is here? Looks like maybe it was springtime when the photo was taken, too.
