General Tom Thumb



Today's picture was taken in 1863, and shows General Tom Thumb. His real name was Charles Stratton. He was given the Tom Thumb character by P.T. Barnum. He died at a relatively young age of around 45 from a stroke.

  1. I thought we were going to have a Miniature People Week, but instead we are now on day two of Giant Chair Week. My question is where does one even obtain such a large piece of furniture?

  2. They were shown with a chair to show how short the subjects are.

  3. Out East, we have a grocery chain called Giant. Perhaps they sell chairs as well.
