Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

So, the people with the sidewalks pile the snow in the streets, and the streets pile the snow on the sidewalks.
ReplyDeleteHMMMM
Better call in the horse and wagon and haul it away.
Up here in Grand Forks, it is illeagal to push, pile or blow your snow onto the city streets.
But it is ok for the City to plow the streets to the side and if they plug your drive-way, then you get to go out and shovel it out again.
10 above this morning and no snow yet.
ReplyDeleteSo, is today one of those days where nobody is going to make a comment.
ReplyDeleteMaybe all the word verifications are too long today.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to get a fix on the exact address of the picture. On the right side there's a building that says Outing (the Out of Doors Magazine) with Adams on a lower floor. I think the street address is "389". If anyone has a guess on this let me know. Initial Google map search didn't come up with any buildings shown here.

great picture love the architecture
ReplyDeletei just wish i could go back in time in NYC in 1905 it would be cool to be there when it was still a normal city(that big) to live in.
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about New York! Sorry!
ReplyDeleteIt is 50 and bright and sunny. No snow so far but last night was lots of heavy wind and rain.
Well it makes me want to wish myself right into that photo.
ReplyDeleteJohn, the street sign says W27, so it must be the corner of 5th Avenue and 27th Street. If you use google streetview you'll see it looks like everything is gone, except the lower part of the building with the spire at the corner of 28th Street.
ReplyDeleteit's the corner of 27 St looking up 5th Av. Marble Collegiate Church steeple a bit visible. Now most other buildings changed, but hints of 2-3 just 'refaced' with some same lines.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob and Anon. I'm having trouble with Google maps street view since my last Safari update. I was on 5th and the 30's today but all the buildings were either too new or too tall.
