Dallas Airport

I begin my African Adventure this morning. We are departing from the Dallas International Airport. This is the first time I have flown since I retired in 2006. Traveling was one of the things I hated most about work, so my dream was always to retire and not have to travel any more. I am making a special exception in this case in order to get to visit the Lovely Ms. EAM. We will keep you posted on our journey.

  1. What I hate about traveling is going from point "A" to point "B".
There is such a waste of time that you just sit there doing nothing.
And now flying has so much more time wasted in the "Get there more than an hour early", go through all the screening , taking off your shoes, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I would rather do that than wind up getting blown up.
But the hassle at the airport has me driving every place.
Now that I am retired I can take my time and drive to places.
I know that I have added to my hate to travel because of waste of TIME, but at least I get to look at this beautiful Country of ours. There is so much to see in this beautiful USA that traveling by car is a pleasure.
But I know that if there are time constraints a person has to fly and put up with all the hassle.
So PJM and MRS. PJM you guys have a nice safe trip, and don't wear a hat or cap when you go through security.

  2. I almost forgot
18 above and 1/8th inch of snow.
It will disappear when we reach 36 above today.

  3. God Bless you and speed you on your way.

It snowed last night for all of ten minutes! Right now it is 45 and clear.

  4. Look at the airport photo! Makes me wonder what folks would have done if they were ever forced to "sit in the plane for hours on the tarmac" like some have had to do recently. I think I would lose my temper if that happened to me.

  5. DADD, there was a fellow on one of the late-night shows - Conan? - talking about flying. "You are sitting in a chair, sailing through the air like a magic carpet, and you COMPLAIN? What's to complain about? New York to Los Angelese in four hours? It used to take four months!"

But yes, TSA is intrusive, demeaning, and futile. I'll take the train.
