Christmas Day at the Baby House

Spent Christmas Day at the Instep Baby House. There were 106 babies and you were allowed to hold as many of them as long as you wanted. Christmas for this group was 5 jump ropes for the group. Also, usually meal portions are rationed, but today the children could eat all they wanted. Some of the older children were taken to the city dump, where several families live by picking through the garbage. These children took some tea and sugar and cookies to the families in the dump.

  1. What is the Instep Baby House? Is it located at Mattaw Village? If not, who runs it? It should be on the Samaritan's Purse list for "Christmas Child" gifts. More info, pretty please.

  2. What a great way to celebrate Christmas - that is pure religion, to visit the fatherless in their affliction.

  3. Merry Christmas to all! Five ropes for over 100 kids...who says our kids aren't spoiled?

  4. "There are some upon this earth of yours," replied the Spirit, "who lay claim to know us, and who do their deeds of passion, pride, ill-will, hatred, envy, bigotry, and selfishness in our name, who are as strange to us and all our kith and kin, as if they had never lived. Remember that, and charge their doings on themselves, not us. Mortal, we spirits of Christmas do not live only one day of the year, we live the whole 365. So it is true of the child born in Bethlehem."

  6. that purely breaks a mother's heart. And that these sweet children took tea and sweets to those "less fortunate". What a powerful Christmas lesson.

  8. Holding babies all day sounds like heaven, I wish wish wish I could go. I'm glad you are there, I hope as many babies felt your love as you had arms for.
