Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

The welcoming of the Graf Zeppelin showed that The world wanted thing to be peaceful.
ReplyDeleteIt is to bad that Germany didn't use it abilities and know how for the betterment of tha world instead of trying to destory it.
For me the amazing thing was not the zeppelin, but the reporter with the tripod heading out across the i-beams to capture the shot.
ReplyDeleteWhat and amazing news reel. I had no idea there was such a hoopla involved around the landing of an airship. I'm going to find out more about it.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know of a HISTORICALLY correct novel about the airships?
Thanks for the posting.
I put on my 'specs' used my manifing glass, tried my telescope and I still cant find it. Can someone help locate the Zeppelin?
ReplyDeleteNate,
ReplyDeletedid you notice when the guy walked out on the steel beams, he then paused and lit up a cig? So, wonder if he died of cancer or falling from a skyscraper.

Grandpa,
ReplyDeleteIt is a faint dark horizontal line in the sky in the center of the picture.

I suppose that after walking out on that I-beam, he had to have a cigatette to calm his nerves.
ReplyDeleteMan, that guy didn't have a brain in his head. I really don't think he got that much better of a shot for his daring feat, where one little mis-cue meant death.
I was able to spot it after I increaeed the size by 200%. It is just about dead center in the photo.
Gonna need a heatseeker to bring that thing down man? The logistics which spelled eventual doom for this type of airship!Flammability vulnerability and non manueverability The underpowered propulsion systems of the time were a considerable factor! If Germany had had Helium? History would have been different!I hesitate to think what the results would have been like with the Atomic bomb effect playing a greater and earlier role in our combined history! EEEYUP? Them sure could have been some kind of interesting times?
ReplyDeleteVery nice video, I truly enjoyed it. Thank you for posting.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that when the photographer with the tripod paused to light his cigarette, there was a fair wind blowing...judging by the behavior of his suit coat...
What is the date on this? If possible it would be wonderful to have more dates (or even approximate) dates posted. Thank you!
