Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Silent films/actresses week, yay!
ReplyDeleteAnd happy Saturday to all.
Joe,
ReplyDeleteNice observation, but do you have an entry for the contest?
PJM
madge evans
ReplyDeleteWell, Mr. PJM, I think it's a person with the initials DB, but as I'm not the ENM, 3 in a row seems selfish.
ReplyDeleteAnd good morning, Nate, if you're around.
ReplyDeleteJoe,
ReplyDeleteI will not comment unless you officially make an entry.
PJM
Mr. PJM,
ReplyDeleteI have noticed that once the mystery person is correctly identified, the comments dwindle.
And since the comments this week have been somewhat sparse, I don't want to trigger a comment alert.
maryjane,
ReplyDeleteNo, it is not Madge Evans.
PJM
Joe,
ReplyDeleteOn a couple of days, we were getting close to a picture embargo.
PJM
I'm going to throw Fanny Brice into the mix
ReplyDeleteI will say it is Clara Bow. The eyes are similar.
ReplyDeleteMr. PJM,
ReplyDeleteHow is Miss EAM's fund-raising coming along?
She is pretty, whoever she is.
ReplyDeleteRTD,
ReplyDeleteNot Fannie Brice.
PJM
Marie,
ReplyDeleteNot Clara Bow.
PJM
Joe in NC,
ReplyDeleteThank you for asking about the lovely Miss EAM. Last weekend went very well between the Church she visited, and the generosity of people on this site. The is getting close to 1/2 of her $5,000 need. The $5,000 would cover travel to and from Kenya, and living expenses for 6 months, plus medical equipment for the clinic.
Thanks,
PJM
I'll give it one more try with Olive Thomas
ReplyDeleteWhere are all your loyal followers?
Elizabeth could use a little more help. I tried to do my part.
Come on guys a few bucks won't break you.
You don't have to give till it hurts, just give a little.
A few bucks for every one would put her well over the top.
RTD,
ReplyDeleteIt is not Olive Thomas.
Thank you for your generosity on supporting the lovely Miss EAM's nursing mission to Africa.
PJM
FOLKS!
ReplyDeleteI have to run to town to the grocery store. I will check on the contact when I return.
PJM
Lillian Gish?
ReplyDeleteCould it be, Jobyna Ralston
ReplyDeleteYay, over 20 comments! No picture embargo today.
ReplyDeleteMary Pickford?
ReplyDeleteIt is not Lillian Gish
ReplyDeleteIt is not Jobyna Ralston
It is not Mary Pickford
The game continues.
PJM
Gloria Swanson
ReplyDeleteDorothy Bernard,
ReplyDeleteBeen lurking decided to play.
Sheldon, Dorothy Bernard it is, good job.
ReplyDeleteI'll give it a try. Is it Marion Davies?
ReplyDeleteA quote that is attributed to Dorothy Bernard, silent screen actress, is "Courage is fear that has said its prayers."
ReplyDeleteI think that Miss EAM shows courage in her commitment to spend half a year in Africa - FOR NO PAY - nursing for orphans (and, I'm sure, others).
If you haven't, you should consider contributing to her "adventure"; see the Domestic Update of last Sunday 17 July.
Sheldon is the winner!
ReplyDeleteIt is Dorothy Bernard, silent screen actress.
PJM
Such glorious hair! And a very pretty lady.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Sheldon! And also to Joe. Good work!
ReplyDeleteDorothy reminds me of Drew Barrymore a little. Any connections for anybody else?
