John "Kid" McManus


Today we feature a picture of John "Kid" McManus. He was a safe cracker and jewel thief in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He also robbed express wagons. He worked internationally, and was accused  of crimes in the US, Canada, and France.

  4. Take away the hat, and dress him up in a little more modern clothes, and you have my high school principal up there.

    No wonder he and I didn't always see eye to eye.

  5. Rather smug expression I would think? The bandit I was hoping to see was the guy who would rob someone or thing and then walk overnight 50 miles or more to stymie the chance of apprehension!I remember reading an article about him which covered a significant period of his life. He was also known for the extreme amount of effort he put into not harming his "Prey"!About the same time period if I remember correctly? Thank you.
