Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
About this site:
I have been an avid collector of old photographs and documents for over 30 years. The photographs on this site are derived from material I have collected over the years. Some came from old family albums, some from material I bought at flea markets over the years, and some from government archives of public domain images, including the US Library of Congress, and the National Archives. We appreciate you visiting this blog, and hope you find it interesting.

Of course this must be the Shadow
ReplyDeleteThe shadow of Whom, though, that is the question.
ReplyDeleteHa! throw in a hard one and you all fold like cheap lawn chairs.

Jimmy Durante.
ReplyDeleteJimmy Durante?
ReplyDeleteJohn
Ha! Jimmy Durante? That is all you have?
ReplyDeleteNot even close.

If it is going to be Atomic Week, J Robert Oppenheimer. Trademark hat.
ReplyDeletePatrick,
ReplyDeleteDarn, you are right.
Yes indeed it is Robert Oppenheimer.
If I had started with this picture would anyone have gotten it?
I think not.
PJM
I would have not got it.
ReplyDeleteI glad Patrick got it, good job
Zorro!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job Patrick,
ReplyDeleteI guess there is no victory breakfast for PJM
might there be a round 4 ?
The nose knows: Jimmy Durante!
ReplyDeleteHow about Werner VonBraun?
ReplyDeleteIf this is leading up to an atomic week, I have to say this.
ReplyDeleteMy high school calculus teacher was one of the young fellows who loaded the first bomb onto Tibbets' plane.
A coworker I had back around 1970 was one of the recipients of that bomb. She was 12 at the time of the blast and a very sweet person who held no grudge against us.
Odd how life works in circles.
Jimmy Durante would have been my best guess, too, but the nose wasn't big enough. "Fold like cheap lawn chairs..." ha ha ha, loved that one, an oldie, but a goodie. I am so amazed that anyone identified this person. Enjoy your blog and everyone's comments, thanks!
