Each day we bring you one stunning little glimpse of history in the form of a historical photograph. Enjoy!
The tension builds...
This is Gaby Deslys.
Yes, it is. Good job, Nate.
Good job Evil Nate Maas. Beat out again.
Wow, Nate, that was quick. This is a rather obscure figure . . . how did you get it so fast?PJM
Congrats again, Nate. Who is she?
Gaby Deslys Born November 4, 1881 – February 11, 1920) was a famous dancer and actress of the early 20th century from Marseilles, France. She also posed for some French post cards.
Great job NateSad story though
Thanks guys. PJM, sometimes I get lucky. I was at first taken with her turban, but then I started thinking the pearls might have more to do with it. Quick search of dancers with pearls turned up Gaby Deslys pretty fast.If you're looking for more fun, I invite everyone to my site at natemaas.com for a second contest, starting now.
Pretty famous dancer ,she died of a throat infection due to influenza. Operated on many times, twice without an anasthesia.
WITHOUT ANETHESIA!!! After the first time I think I would have picked DEATH the 2nd.

A dancer with pearls? Posed for French postcards? Dare we guess what next weeks theme might be?
I always thought I was pretty good, researching in the internet -- but I am like kindergarten bracket compared to Nate and Roger and PJM. I am not even at the starting line when one of them have the answer! But I'll keep peeking in here, to learn something each time I do.
