Atlantic City

Good morning to you all. Today's picture was taken in 1905, and it shows the boardwalk in Atlantic City. I am not sure what the little carts are that they are pushing people around in. It looks like a beautiful day.

I enjoyed reading all your weather reports in the comments yesterday. It is cold in West Texas again today, and yesterday we never got above freezing. The peacocks are freezing, and you can see that they are starting to get stressed by the cold weather. The chickies are doing better, as they sleep in their little coop, which has a heat lamp for nights like the last one. Today the forecast calls for temperatures in the high 20's, and then hopefully tomorrow things will begin to thaw out.

  1. It is suppose to get into the upper 20's here today, and the lower 30's tomorrow. Right now it is 18 above outside. That is 38 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time.
So the Peacocks aren't smart enough to go inside their palace to stay warm. It goes to show that the chickies are smarter than peacocks

  3. Ah, the rolling chairs at Atlantic City! They are iconic - and have been there for years - along with solt water taffy and the steel pier. I think they have been there for over 125 years.

They are still there, about 300-350 of them and you can get pushed for a ride up and/or down the Boardwalk. They also have powered "tram cars" too, for the tired walkers and the handicapped.

  4. I notice in the far right there is an Antique store. What the heck did they sell? Everything in that picture is an antique :)

  6. Wonderful picture. The little carts are wheelchairs. The ladies are quite proably "infirm".

  7. Atlantic City - great memories!
When we received our Canadian Citizenship papers 50 years ago, we drove to Atlantic City to celebrate the event. Salt water candy was much appreciated by me but my husband spit the root beer out. He thought it was BEER like he knew it.

  14. Have been to both A.C. and L.V. and the difference is not that far apart, they are both booming! Las Vegas is on a growth binge unlike anything I have ever seen and I've seen a few places at their peak! (Cape Cod) before the building moratorium went into effect! I used to like driving down the back way to Atlantic City. The Asbury Park seashore is kind of neat.
